I have owned several carseats over the past year since my son is getting so big and I want him the safest he can be and harnessed longer. This seat is meant for infants rearfacing from 5-35 lbs and then for children up to about age 8, but up to 70 lbs harnessed.

I really love recaro carseats. Their quality is superb and the only reason I gave this a lower rating is due to the circumstances with the size of my child and car we own. My son is almost 5, 44 inches tall and weighs 38 lbs. I am looking to use this in a 99 sebring or 05 Honda Accord. Unfortunately I will be returning it after this evening. It sets on a base and with the base (it is NOT removable) it makes my son too high up in the car and over the edge of the seatback that I just do not feel it is safe. His head is about 4-5 inches from the ceiling, well above the regular headrest in car and also blocks the entire back half the window when trying to drive and look in the rearview mirrow.

With that being said, if your child is younger I think this is one of the best seats available out there, but do not feel it will get your child to 70 lbs or even close. The safety is superb with EPS foam side impact protection and cocooning your child the way it is designed. In the 12 years that recaro has manufactured child carseats there has never been a recall on them.

The comfort is great. By far this is the nicest cover I have seen (besides their recaro young sport). It also comes with a removable pad pillow and my son was completely fine with it in and enjoyed the softness of it. It is angled so he is sitting comfortably vs being straight up and slouching. With built in lock off clips and latch and tethers or being able to use the seatbelt the installation was a breeze.

The cover is removable and machine washable, although you do have to unthread the straps in order to clean. Portability is not that easy, but in reality what huge well built carseat is easy to carry around. None, so I don't want that to count against it.

If my son was younger I would by far purchase this seat, but due to size and height it just isn't for us. I would still recommend it for anyone up to about his size, or atleast 40 inches tall.
