We have lots of counter space in our kitchen, and being the Victorian fan that I am, no space is ever left undecorated! LOL! (Actually, this is a bad habit that I am working on!) So on one section of our white countertop, I usually place a table runner, and decorate with my Royal Albert Old Country Roses Teapot, and teacups, and some candles.
My old table runner was getting a little shabby, so I found a great new one at Ross. It is a beautiful red quilted satin look, with roses embossed into the fabric. Though it looks satin, it is actually 100% polyester, and can be machine washed in cold water, and tumble dried on the gentle cycle. (But honestly, by the time they need washing, I have usually worn them out.)
The size is 13" by 72" and the cost was $8.99, though it retails at $16.00 and up. My china teapot and candles are just glowing atop this new runner. I also placed a mirror under the teapot and teacups to make them sparkle even more. The whole effect is elegant and pleasing. And when I light the candles--pure romance!
Remember that table runners are not just for tables! I even threw an elegant table runner across an antique chair in my living room, then added a couple of gold accent pillows, and it was gorgeous!
