I often have trouble falling asleep, especially after a busy, stressful day. The OTC products I've tried don't work, and I tend to have bad reactions to prescription sleep aids, so I looked around for a more natural approach to going to sleep. I found it in Origins Sleep Time On-The-Spot Gel. As anyone with experience in aroma therapy would guess, one of the main botanical ingredients in this product is lavender. The others include orange blossom, rose, chamomile, tangerine, lemon, honey myrtle, and more, all as essential oils in a base of purified water, glycerin, and castor bean oil. Origins is noted for their use of natural ingredients and for their policy of no-cruelty, which means no animal testing. This is no exception. The tube is small, only 1.7 fluid ounces, but to use it, you apply a very small amount, just a tiny dab, to the center of the forehead, back of the neck, and the lower abdomen near the navel. Interestingly to me, these correspond to three major chakra points, essential to the flow of energy through the body. What they do for me is immediately infuse me with a feeling of calm and well-being, and within a very few minutes, I'm asleep, generally for the entire night. Although the price of $15 for 1.7 ounces may seem high, I've been using this almost every night for three months now, and it's not gone yet. The use of essential oils, instead of a watered down fragrance, is the key to the effectiveness of a very tiny amount. This is a great value for the price, and it certainly works for me. I would recommend it to anyone who has trouble sleeping, and it is quite safe for use on small children, too.
