Our youngest daughter gave my husband and I each one of these ResQMe 2 in 1 keychain rescue tools for Christmas last year. What is ResQMe you might ask? Not that I knew the answer either when I opened my present.

ResQMe is a mini life hammer on a keychain. It is used to break the safety glass in the side and rear windows of your car or use it to cut your jammed seat belts in case of an accident. This unique safety device is as unique as the daughter that thought to give these to us. I have often thought of being trapped in my car after an accident (morbid, I know) but obviously the makers of this tool thought the same thing.

ResQMe is designed to fit on my keychain with a detachable clip. It weighs only .6 ounces and measures only 3-5/8" x 1-1/2" x 5/8". When the clip is pulled away it reveals a stainless steel blade which to me looks much like an office envelope cutter that rips open the envelope for you. You hook this over your seatbelt and pull to cut it off. To use the window breaker all I would need to do is to push the black head against a tempered glass window (about 12 lbs. of force is needed) until the spike which is spring loaded releases and shatters the window.

The spike resets automatically and according to the manual can be used multiple times. Also, the blade can be used to cut multiple seat belts so this is not just a "use once throw away type of rescue tool". I have to trust this tool works as it has been tested and approved by police, fire and rescue departments and since our daughter is a 911 dispatcher she was made aware of the benefits of this ResQMe tool through her job.

Since this was a gift there is no price indicated but it was purchased through Amazon.com for $17.99 for a package of 2. Even if I never have to use this, it gives me a secure feeling knowing that the ResQMe tool is always with me. You can never be too safe.
