I came here to US to marry the "love of my life". I left behind my family, friends, career and roots to be with the man of my dream. It was a lot of sacrifice but I had to do it. Now I am married and a home-maker. Adjustment period is tough but I can manage. My hubby is very supportive as well as my in-laws. I don't miss my family and friends a lot because I talk to them a lot now more than I talk to them when I was still home. And I have the power of technology to thank for that. But if there is one thing I really miss a lot, it's RICE. From where I came from rice is a staple. We eat them a lot (breakfast, lunch, dinner and sometimes snacks too). It's a good thing that I can buy rice here in the US but the problem is, I've never learned to cook rice the traditional way because we have rice cooker back home. And since my in-laws are not rice eater, there is no rice cooker here. When we got married, I received a $25 gift card from Wal-Mart and guess what? I used it to buy this 16-cup Black and Decker Rice Cooker and Steamer for only $19.95. I love this new rice cooker because aside from cooking rice, I can also use it to steam veggetables, meat and fish. So I also cook steam dishes that I used to love back home. I'm happy with my Black and Decker Rice Cooker and Steamer, because... I don't miss home that much now.
