When we bought our new Plasma TV, we needed to also buy a new TV stand. We needed one that didn’t have any glass parts or shelving because we have a baby in the house and I am just not comfortable with furniture that has glass shelving. We wanted something wooden, sturdy, nice looking and not to expensive.
We found this Ridgewood Monterrey TV stand at K-Mart of all places! It is approximately 19 inches tall, 43 inches long, and about 19 inches wide. It has an “Auburn” finish, two open faced shelves split, and also has two drawers across the bottom. The bottom legs and I guess you would call it “the base frame” are metal.
This of course came in a box and required assembly. This was surprisingly easy. It took my husband just about half an hour to do. This is mostly press board which I wasn’t happy about but it is sturdy and doesn’t look or feel bad so I guess I’m ok with it. There are some actual wood pieces as well.
The box says this can also be used as a free standing coffee table, also this stand/table can accommodate most 42” flat panel TV’s or 32” Tube TV’s. The stand can also accommodate 2 Audio components and 150 DVD’s/276 CD’s.
We are actually very satisfied with this stand. The only thing I wish were a little different is I would like it to be a little taller…it is kind of low but, It is VERY sturdy and it looks nice in our living room. The drawers hide our DVD’s; the shelves hold the Cable box and DVD player it works for us. In the past when we have tried to buy furniture items at K-mart, it just didn’t work…they were horrible to put together and flimsy once we did get it together. This is not the case with this TV stand. I believe we paid $100 dollars for it; I may be a little off there but not by much if I am. So, if you are looking for a sturdy coffee table or TV stand for a decent price I would tell you to check this out.
I am a little embarrassed to admit this but I am a little confused about the “Brand Name” The box says Ridgewood Monterrey TV Stand/ Coffee Table and it is distributed my Ameriwood Industries…sorry don’t have the model number it was on part of the box that got thrown away.
