My husband and I have an older dog with a bad case of arthritis. We wanted to help her with that problem, and she still has a lot of life in her and is not ready to be put down. So on a trip to our vet, we were advised to get Rimadyl for her.
She gets one 100 mg tablet once a day, and she actually seems to be doing better with the medication. She limps when she walks because of stiffness, and we've noticed that she seems to be able to walk better now that she is taking the medication. It costs about $60.00 for one month's supply, which I feel is a little pricey. But you can't really put a price on the health and comfort of a pet.
Rimadyl is one of the better medications for the pain of arthritis. Our vet told us it was the only thing he felt would really help her, and he seems to be right. I think her quality of life has improved since she started her Rimadyl therapy. Since she is an older dog, she probably won't be around for a lot longer, but however long she has, we want her to be as comfortable as possible. The Rimadyl seems to have helped in that regard.
