I recently took up hitting the bag if you will as a way to burn off some extra calories. Seemed like a lot more fun to me than jogging would have been and doesn’t put the pounding on my knees like running does. I use a pair of Ringside Open Thumb bag gloves and am very happy with them. The gloves are not designed for any competitive sparring, rather as just a workout tool. Retail price on these is 14.99 but you can often find them on sale for even as much as 25% off. They fit well and the curved fingers don’t force you clutch too tightly. They are made of vinyl and your hands can get pretty sweaty inside the gloves, but this will happen with any gloves. One nice feature is that they are open thumbed gloves. This provides a lot more flexibility for your hands as well as keeping your hand a little cooler by letting in some air. It also makes putting the gloves on and taking them off a lot easier. There are plenty of more expensive gloves out there and you might even consider weighted gloves for harder training but these Ringside Gloves are great for starting out and are reasonably priced. I don’t want to spar with any of you but I would recommend the gloves.
