I decided to purchase my Ronco Compact Showtime Rotisserie & BBQ on a whim. I had seen the television commercial and liked the idea of cooking by the "set it and forget it" theory. Plus I like rotisserie chicken that you can purchase at grocery stores. I purchased mine at Target, instead of from the commercial, because if it's made it to the retail market, it's got to be good.
Good is an understatement! This rotisserie is definitely not like my mother's 1960's model. The selected meat rotates horizontally rather than vertically on it's spit. Because of this the juices circulate all around and through the meat. The rotisserie chicken is absolutely as tender as can be. Rib roast, pork roast, even London Broil come out perfect every time.
I love the fact that all you have to do is calculate the pounds by time according to the chart, set the dial to the number, and let the rotisserie do the rest. Once the cooking is in motion, you are free to spend time with family, prepare side dishes, or sit back and relax until it dings.
Cleaning is not as easy as they show on TV, but the result is well worth the effort. Plus most of the guts of the machine can be ran in the dishwasher. The heat resistant gloves that are included with it are really nice and actually do protect you from the heat. My husband even uses them when he BBQs outside--I guess that's an added bonus.
If you are at all skeptical about trying this, try it and I know you will like it.
