Rubber Soul was the Beatles album that began to rewrite the Rock-And-Roll rule books by moving from the early hits to their more innovative and different music in Revolver and eventually into Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band and Magical Mystery Tour. I really do enjoy the Beatles early music such as the albums "With The Beatles, " and "Please Please Me." I find something to love in every single album and Rubber Soul is no exception. "The Word, " written by John Lennon is ahead of its time for the Beatles, just like "Tomorrow Never Dies, " was on Revolver. I think when we listen now we can tell it was a precursor to something new and unexpected, but hindsight is 20/20 and it may not have been seen as a sign when it was released. George Harrison is possibly my favorite Beatles and produces a big hit with "If I Needed Someone, " and other major tracks include "Drive My Car, " and the sitar instrument in "Norweigan Wood." Rubber Soul really was the tip of the iceberg that moved the Beatles from the pop love songs into the best work I feel they have done in their later albums. This isn't the best album of theirs, but there are so many good albums that isn't an insult. I think when I listen to this more and more I can tell the bridging of a gap from the early Beatles days to the later ones.
