I was looking for a gallon pitcher to hold my ice tea and while shopping in Wal-Mart I found this pitcher. It is made by Rubbermaid and called MixerMate. The pitcher is very nice with a big handle. It actually has the measurements on the side so you can see where one quart, two-quart, three quart and one gallon are. On the other side of the pitcher you will see they put the measurements in liters for you, as well.
I thought this would be a good pitcher with all the bells and whistles. Not to mention Rubbermaid is a good name product. They have been around for many years. I did however, find that this pitcher had short comings.
The pitcher's mouth, though it looks big, its not. I can not get my hand in the pitcher to clean it. The rim at the top where its twist top fits on has a tendency to collect old tea and hold it in. This makes for possible mold in this area. I have tried to use a bottle brush but they do not get all the small areas. The other problem is that the container becomes stained after only two or three uses. There is a slight brown tint to the pitcher.
I can not recommend this container because fast clean up is important to any family during the summer. I want to get more tea made quickly, and I do not want to take a chance on getting sick because I was unable to wash mold off the rim.
