We got two of these Rubbermaid storage boxes to use as compost bins. (We just punched several holes in the bottoms and sides). The boxes were available in several different colors, but the purple ones were cheapest, so that's what we got. These storage boxes are durable and sturdy, and they make terrific compost bins. They are just the right size, and the lids stay on with no problem, but they are easy to open and close. I probably do not have to mention that Rubbermaid storage boxes do not have an insurance/bonding option, but just in case - they don't. Security features? The boxes are just sitting out in our backyard along the fence. I figure if anyone wants our compost that badly, hey, they can have it; we can start over. Oh! And, we have a few of these (same size, neutral color) in the house and garage that we actually use to store stuff in. They make great storage boxes also. Who would have guessed? Anyway, this was our first composting experience, so I'm not sure we'll use these boxes for that purpose in the future, but they do work well for both composting and storage (and probably many other things, if you're creative).
