We get one of these boxes as a tip from a client each year. Some are better than others, but they are mediocre chocolates no matter which assortment.

Although we really appreciate the thought from people who give non-cash tips, these Russell Stover gift boxes have only one thing going for them: almost any chocolate is better than no chocolate, but all in all, they aren’t great.

This one is an assortment of “All Milk Fine Chocolates.”

The set contains:

2 Roman nougat

1 chocolate truffle

2 peanut butter caramel

1 Vermont nut creme

1 coconut creme

1 raspberry creme

1 vanilla creme

1 raspberry caramel

1 pecan & English walnut cluster

2 chocolate butter creme

1 strawberry creme

1 maple nut creme

1 orange creme

1 fruit & nut caramel

1 molasses chew

1 coconut cluster

1 peanut butter crunch

I have to confess that I’m not a big fan of milk chocolate, but even so, this sure isn’t what I would call “fine chocolate.” Now that it has become so easy to get really good chocolates most anywhere, this type of box is just way down the list of desirables. There isn’t anything really wrong with these, it’s just that they aren’t all that great, either.

So you get 21 candies in this 12 oz box. And I just looked up the regular price, which is $8.99. I also see that you can build custom boxes from Russell Stover, to fit your personal preferences.

But I have to say that I would rather have some of the other chocolates that I‘ve reviewed than these.
