About a year ago i was given a second hand Samsung 16" SyncMaster Monitor, in an attempt to replace an old HP Monitor that was suffering the signs of age. The monitor gives the appearance of flat screen, however is over 17 inches deep, making the screen hard to move and adjust due to changing light conditions. The resolution is sharp with the ability from 800 - 600, right through to 2048 - 1536, where even the largest of icons look as small as an ant.
The design is relatively modern, with smooth corners all around, as well as what was discussed previously with the appearance of a flat screen, where the whole back of the monitor is seemingly invisible.
Although the monitor has worked perfectly in the time that myself, as well as my sister have owned it, the screen does have a few drawbacks. Being quite large, it's weight makes it difficult to move, and leaves next to no room along the side of my monitor. The depth of the monitor causes a large gathering of dust, due to the angle of the fins like a dam. As well as these, the screen produces large amounts of heat, and numerous times i've ended up moving away from the computer.
No matter what you decide, keep in mind that Samsung are a good brand and should be considered when choosing a new computer monitor.
