I purchased my Samsung DVD/VHS Recorder from Home Shopping Network for $199.95. It came with a one year limited warranty, and through HSN I bought additional coverage for $19.95. This particular unit has the ability to copy from DVD to VHS tape, or VHS tape to DVD. My first recording left me somewhat disappointed. It played from the unit itself very nicely, but when I tried to play my newly recorded DVD in another DVD unit, it would not play. My personal feeling is that this recorder is limited in its format usage as far as DVDs go. The VHS part of the machine requires a Super VHS tape for recording, but appears to be able to play normal VHS tapes. The picture quality is excellent, the sound quality is also excellent. This unit also comes with a remote control which fully accesses all functions of the machine. One nice feature is that it can be set to timer recording. Also, it has a built-in TV tuner to change channels on the TV with the proper cable hookup. This unit has a full menu which I can bring up on my TV screen to access any function. All in all, I feel this is a well-built unit and appears to be very reliable and extremely easy to use. The only drawback I have experienced with this unit is that the recorded DVDs are not able to play on all DVD units. I feel that it is limited in its writing format.
