I made a vow to try to save money and be more ecologically minded this year for my New Years Resolution. One of the first things I did was get a bunch of plastic containers that I could freeze leftovers in and move straight to the microwave for cooking. This helps me save money by allowing me to cook more at once (saves money to do things in bulk), keep leftovers longer (freezing them), and it even helps portion out foods so I can keep losing weight more easily! Ziplock brand containers are so far the best I've used. They are very durable and go from the heated food to the freezer to the microwave easily. They almost always come clean in the dishwasher and they are pretty hard to destroy so they last quite a while. This makes them better than the Rubbermaid brand longer lasting containers because they end up lasting just about as long, they don't stain as easily with red sauces, and when they do come to life's end, they were only a few cents anyway, so it doesn't pain me to throw them away!
My favorite part abvout these has got to be that you can cook in them and they don't melt. What better way to save time and money than with Ziplock containers?? I can bring them to work and thow them in the microwave, too-easily portable and very efficient. They come in MANY sizes and shapes, so they will accomodate just about anything you can find to put in them. I highly recommend these to help you and your family save money and stop wasting food this year! They really helped me!!
