For Christmas, I got a new bike. To customize the bike to suit my needs, I bought a Schwinn Reflective Cruiser Saddle. This seat has drastically improved the ride and comfort of the bike from its original manufacturer's set up. This bike seat is suitable for men or women to use, has built-in safety features, and has a built-in suspension system.
The Schwinn seat is very well designed. It is contoured in the center to allow for airflow, or “breathing room” as some call it. However, it is not open all the way through the seat as some other Schwinn styles are. It is wider than your standard bike seat, about 8 inches at the widest point. The length seems standard at about 10 inches. There is a swatch of reflective material on the top of the rear of the seat, along with a reflector plate on the back. This is a great safety feature for those who must remove the original bike reflector to adjust the seat height as I did. This Schwinn Reflective Cruiser Saddle is equipped with a spring suspension system. Having the suspension springs provides a little give and added comfort for me since my new bike does not have any built-in suspension.
The fabric on the saddle is black nylon and features bright white thread stitching detail. The Schwinn logo is embossed on the side of the saddle in bright white also. I would not consider the material used for this seat waterproof. Since it is nylon, It may be slightly water-resistant. I keep my bike in the garage so I do not have to worry about it getting wet. If you intend to get this saddle, and cannot keep it out of the weather, I recommend covering it with a shower cap, or something similar, to protect it.
Installing the seat was just a matter of removing the original seat from the post and bolting the new one on. I did not need any special tools to get the job done. This Schwinn seat is universal and should fit any bike seat post.
I recommend the Schwinn Reflective Cruiser Saddle for anyone looking for a more comfortable bike ride. Prior to getting this seat, I experienced discomfort, a numbing sensation all over my rear end and lower back. Now I can ride without any discomfort, which gives me the opportunity to ride longer distances.
