I have just started back to scrap booking and while looking for new products at my local Michaels store, I found the Fiskars Texture Plates Assortment Pack.

This pack of 12 plastic texture plates includes Blossoms, Honeycomb, Braids, Basket weave, Carpet, Rug, Music Notes, Lace, Critters, Leather, Paws & Prints. The texture area of these plates is 5 ½" x 5 ½".

Blossoms, Honeycomb, Basket weave, Music Notes, Lace & Leather are self-explanatory. Braids will give you a modern curved line look that does look like a braid. Carpet has a rough squiggly pattern and rug has curved lines that would also resemble grass. Critters has a pattern of frogs, lizards, dragonflies & snakes. The paws texture has a small & large animal paw print and the prints texture are hand & foot patterns.

In order to use the texture plates you will need a Dual-tip stylus that provides detailed sharp edges or a Texturing tool to cover a larger area quicker. These are both sold separately, but you can also use a pen with a cap or a Popsicle stick. Turn over the paper to the back side and either trace the outline of the shape using either end of the stylus (the smaller end will give more detail), or rub across the entire surface, holding the texture tool straight up while applying pressure, make circular strokes until the area is covered. Wax paper will help make the texture tool glide along the surface easier.

Not only can I use this for texturing my papers & foils in scrap booking or card making, but it can also be used to make patterns in clay projects.

This is a great tool that I will get a lot of use from and will last forever! A great buy for less than $10.
