I am aBzzagent, a word-of-mouth marketing network, and I get to try all kinds of new things and then spread the word about them. The latest item they have sent me is the Scrubbing Bubbles Extend-A-Clean Power Sprayer. I have been a long time fan of Scrubbing Bubbles products, so I was eager to give this one it a try.
There are a few things that set this bathroom cleaner apart from other cleaning products. The first is the power sprayer which is a battery- operated trigger that fits on top of the Extend-A-Clean refill bottle. It allows you to press the button and spray a continuous spray of cleaner without having to pump the trigger. Because this sprayer is so easy to use, it is endorsed by the Arthritis foundation. While I do think this is a cool feature, I feel it sprays out way more cleaner than I normally would ever use at one time. After using it in 2 of my 4 1/2 bathrooms, the bottle was already 3/4 empty, where a regular can or bottle of cleaner usually lasts me weeks, if not months. The foam that it shoots out is more foamy than what I get from normal trigger pump bottles, but far less than I get from the aerosol can version, which is the type I normally use.
The second unique feature of this product is that it works over time for up to 4 days to fight soap scum and grime. I found it works great in shower area, but for the rest of the bathroom this was not a big deal. When we first cleaned our glass shower door and walls, my husband did a horrible job of rubbing them and basically just sprayed on the cleaner, did a little wipe and rinsed. In the areas he missed cleaning well and just sprayed, I noticed that over a few days it did actually get cleaner all by itself, which was very nice. For the sinks and the countertops though I did not really notice much of a difference over my regular cleaners, except this cleaner did not leave any residue behind, which I sometimes find with the other types I use.
Extend-A -Clean does have a very strong and unusual scent. I can not pinpoint the exact scent of it, but it does have a citrus undertone. While it is not totally unpleasant, it is strong and it does last for a while. If you are sensitive to smells, you may want to use this cleaner in a well ventilated room or skip it all together.
Now for the big question, will I be purchasing this in the future? The cost of the starter kit is $8.99 and the refills are $3.99. Now that I have the trigger sprayer, I will only have to buy the refills but unless I have a really good coupon and they are on sale, I think I will pass. While it does work well and is easy to use, I was simply using too much of it at one time for me to justify spending that much for it. I am just as happy with the regular Scrubbing Bubbles products I usually use, which I can get for a better price.
