While on vacation in San Diego, we stopped at Sea World for the day.
We enjoyed it very much.
We ended up doing the Dine with Shamu, which is an all you can eat buffet. As you are enjoying your meal the trainers are working with Shamu. The trainers are wonderful and they interacted with us. I truly enjoyed this meal and would greatly do it again.
Sea World has a Skytower which our family decided to do. Once on top you have a panoramic view of Sea World. The cost was $3.00 a person, it was nice but not really a must.
I thought the park itself was very clean and the workers overall were friendly. We went on a Wednesday and found crowds were pretty low.
The shows are a big hit. They have a seal lion show, dolphin show and of course the Shamu show. The Shamu show is called "Believe" I really enjoyed the show. My son never seemed to get bored. We sat in the "soak zone" and yes we got soaked! But it was so much fun.
Later in the evening Shamu puts on another show called "Shamu Rocks". We went to that one too, we liked it, but I personally like the daytime show just a little more. The trainers work so well with these amazing animals.
We also went into the Artic Zone, which houses Polar Bears, Walruses and Seals. My son never has seen a real live Walruses before so that was a neat thing for him. Those animals are so huge.
They also have a Manatees exhibit and a penguin exhibit. Both we thoroughly enjoyed.
In the stingray exhibit we were able to pet a stingray!
My son's favorite exhibit was the shark one. When you enter you go through this clear tunnel and all around you all different kinds of sharks are swimming above you or right next to you! We ended up going through this exhibit three times because it was so much fun.
Do not leave the park without seeing the Dolphin exhibit. We spent a lot of time here. For $5.00 you can buy some fish and feed the dolphins. The dolphins will come right up to you and you can pet it. I was able to pet one right on the nose! Dolphins are one of my personal favorite animals so I treasure that experience.
The fish for the dolphins are only available during certain hours so they don't get overfed. Make sure to check the feeding times and get there right away. This spot gets VERY busy.
We really enjoyed our Sea World visit. I would definitely go back.
