This is a great follow up to the Firefly series, it wrapped everything up but not in a nice bow; there's still a lot left to explore! Joss Whedon really outdid himself with the writing and the cast took that and just expanded on it, it’s so very good!
I did get to see on the big screen but it does translate very well to the tv screen which is good, you aren’t overwhelmed by the special effects. The story will engage from the moment you turn it on; you won’t regret the hours you spend watching it or rewatching it.
One thing I don’t like about the show was he did do a little rewriting of the characters so they aren’t exactly behaving as they did in the series but it was for a reason, so those that hadn’t seen the series would not be at a loss as to what was going on. It wasn’t enough of a change that I couldn’t get past it but every time I watch it, a couple of scenes bug me a lot. But then Nathan Fillon or Adam Baldwin speaks and I forget that I was annoyed. I do love to watch those two together. A lot of pretty on a small screen, and they can ACT! It’s not often you find that combination.
Joss Whedon isn’t afraid or scared to kill of major characters from the shows that he writes so there are some big surprises in this movie that broke my heart and of course left me wanting more of a back story. This is a must for anyone who loves great story-telling and acting with a lot of action adventure; it being a sci-fi show (and a western) is just gravy. You won’t be sorry having this in your collection especially if it’s sitting next to your dvd set of Firefly.
