While I am a big fan of Sheryl Crow, I usually end up only liking about half the songs on her albums. This is one of her strongest discs, chock full of great songs. There is a rawness to the songs here, and a great flow as it goes from track to track.
The album starts out with the great with hit single, My Favorite Song. The songs got a great groove and a message that most of us can probably relate to. The ballad The Difficult Kind is a fantastic song that clocks in at over six minutes. Another favorite of mine is Anything but Down. It's a really challenging song with some great lyrics. The song Mississippi was written by Bob Dylan and given to Sheryl to sing. It's a good track and fits in perfectly with the rest of these song that were written by Sheryl herself.
There is a great theme running through the album of dealing with a failed relationship, which is something that most of us can relate to. Through pain comes greatness because this is a great collection of songs.
