This is a fun and witty book by Laura Levine. It is one in a series of Jaine Austen Mysteries. It was a gift from a friend who knows I love to read mysteries, especially humorous ones.
Laura Levine is a comedy writer and has written for sitcoms such as Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman, The Bob Newhart Show, The Love Boat, Laverne and Shirley, The Jeffersons and Three's Company. She is a very entertaining author, and her character, Jaine Austen, is a delight to read.
Jaine is a freelance writer and is eager to get a job that comes along writing magazine ads for this fancy boutique, Passions, in L.A. Her funds are low, so she really could use the work. All she has to do is come up with some great ideas that will win the owner over to hiring her. Everything seems good for Jaine until she finds one of the employees of the boutique, Frenchie, dead, stabbed by the stiletto heel of one of the victim's own shoes. Frenchie was not well-liked for numerous reasons, and any one of a number of people could have done her in. Well, Jaine wants to find out who the culprit is, and off she goes on another adventure to catch a killer.
This is a very funny and enjoyable book to read. It is the second in this series that I have read so far, and I intend to read all in the series. I would highly recommend this book for its humorous content.
