A friend's review of the Canon G3
I bought this camera in 2003 and it's been a great camera ever since. Compared to the newer cameras that are out on the market today this camera still takes a great picture. It's hard to find accesories for it now but if you know the size of the lens you can find some interchangeable lenses such as a macro lens and a telephoto lens.
The cameras weight is a bit bulky in the middle and the strap gets in the way but other than that it's easy to handle. If you use a tri-pod with the camera you can use the remote and the picture is nice and clear. It took awhile to get used to focusing and how you have to press the button just halfway to get it to work. The macro feature on the camera works well and if you practice with the manual settings you can get the greatest close up pictures. I like how the screen in back flips out and you can take video with sound as well. It's not the greatest resolution but it works.
I have sadly dropped the camera once (luckily on carpet), and when I took a test picture everything was just fine. It's a 4 mega pixel camera and the pictures look decent even in the dark. It can hold a 1 GB memory card and takes about 45 minutes to charge. The charging time can vary depending on how much you use the camera. I found it's a really good idea to buy another camera battery if you're the type to use the screen to constantly check your pictures.
I recommend this camera to people who are just starting to learn about photography. It comes with a nice starter package.
