Sim Safari by Maxis is a simulation computer game that lets you build and manage an African safari tourist camp. You have control of three different things: the natural part of the camp where visitors go to view animals, the camp itself, and a nearby village from which you hire employees.
Each part of this game is fun, and each part is important to succeed in the game. Your goal is threefold: to have a balance ecosystem in the park, a financially successful tourist camp, and to make the villagers happy so they do not poach the animals.
The game has a free play option and four different scenarios to play. Since you can build the camp in any manner you wish, there are many options that prevent it from getting boring. In the nature preserve, you can plant dozens of different types of trees and plants, and introduce many animals and birds such as lions, elephants, crocodiles, storks, snakes, water buffalo, gazelles, zebra, giraffe, frogs, and eagles. There is a field guide to help you balance the food web and teach you a lot about African wildlife.
