We bought this skull bank a couple of years ago at Spencers to be part of our Halloween decorations. When we bought it we thought it was cool and did not even realize it was a bank. We we discovered it was a bank as well as decor, it turned out to be a piece we use all the time and not just for Halloween.
The skull is about the size of an actual human skull and because it is hard resin, it feels like one too. It has some great detail like the shading and cracks. Coming out of one of his eye sockets is a cockroach and out the other is a cute little mouse who's tail wraps around and is slithering out the skulls nose. The coin slot is set very far back on the head so when you are looking at it from the front, you don't even see it. On the bottom there is a traditional rubber stopper that keeps the coins in but is easy to remove when you want to take them back out.
When we are not using the skull for Halloween, my husband keeps it on his desk and puts his spare change in it. At the end of the year when Halloween is near and it is time for the skull to be put on display, he empty's it out and uses the money to buy candy for the trick-or-treaters. This year there was a little over $40.00 in there an there was still room for more.
