Since my mom has recently had numerous falls, with horrible consequences, I have become much more safety-conscious. One of the things that I am much more careful about now, is shower safety. Recently, I noticed that my feet were slippery on the bottom, from soap hitting the tub area in the shower. Once I almost slipped. So I decided that I needed to get a bath mat. While shopping in TJ Maxx one day, I came across a nice looking aqua bath mat, called Geneva Blue. It's made by AquaTouch, and I love the look and feel of it! It has cut-out circles, and every other circle is enclosed with a suction cup on the back. These allow the mat to stick securely to the tub, making it skid resistant.
It's also quite comfortable when taking a tub bath. Whenever I exit the shower, I always remove the bath mat, and hang it over the side of the tub enclosure. This prevents mildew and mold from forming on the underside of the bath mat. (I had that happen once, with a bath mat that I left in the tub (not knowing any better at the time) and it was not a pretty sight.
The bath mat is surface washable, and I was so please with it, that I went back to TJ Maxx, and purchased another one to have on hand, when this one gives out.
