I decided to have a go at making a roman blind - not a stranger to sewing - i thought i had it in the bag. To make the blind was more complex than i imagined, so i scoured Amazon for a solution. I came across this book by Elaine Brumstead and low and behold there was a detailed feature on how to make roman blinds. The book also tells you how to fix, rig, and hang the blind. In total there are around 4 different types of blinds to make. The photographs show you easy step by step instructions on how to make lots of household furnishings. I made some beautiful cushion covers for my living room, and also a small patchwork throw. The book covers most home furnishings like; curtains, placemats, quilting and embroidery. If you are really brave you can have a try at making loose covers for your old chair or sofas. This would be worth mastering as the ones featured - if bought - would be very expensive.
