When we browsed around Toys R Us for soft toys for our baby, we chanced upon this set of Shelcore Soft Blocks for babies. It was on sale. The original price was $7 but since the box was not in mint condition anymore, we got it at only $2. But of course we know that the educational value of this toy did not diminish with the box.
Anyway, the blocks are made of polyurethane foam and wrapped in some kind of plastic where images of common everyday things are printed in vivid colors. It is a fun way of enabling my daughter to identify common things like animals, musical instruments, food, etc. Each box contains 6 blocks and with six sides per block, we have 36 items in all to identify.
Since it is soft, we just leave them in the crib with our baby because it is safe. Additionally, she chews on them and there is no fiber that comes off, so it is really safe.
It is both educational and safe. My baby is only 8 months old and so she will have different levels of understanding of this toy. This is a really good buy and something I would recommended for babies 8 months and older.
