Sonic Adventure 2: Battle is a port of the original Sonic Adventure 2 for the Sega Dreamcast. Sonic has been arrested, and it's all thanks to a mysterious black hedgehog running amok. Soon, our hero finds himself on the run from the military. As he attempts to clear his name, he comes to discover a dark plot formulated by his arch nemesis Dr. Eggman; a plot that could spell the end for mankind. But does Eggman know what he's getting himself into?
Sonic Adventure 2 Battle plays just like Sonic Adventure. There are two sides, Hero and Dark, featuring, as can be expected, the heroes and villains respectively. You can struggle to save the world or conquer it. Gameplay differs from character to character. Sonic and Shadow blast through levels at top speed, Tails and Eggman blast through things in shooter levels, and Knuckles and Rouge go treasure hunting for pieces of the Master Emerald. Along the way, the characters' stories intertwine, leading to a very rich and epic story.
There are several new features not available in the original Sonic Adventure 2. For one, all of the levels are available to play in 2-player mode, as well as new treasure hunting and shooting modes. The Battle part of the title is there for good reason. Oh, and you can play Chao Karate if you're so inclined.
Sonic Adventure 2 Battle improves on the original in several ways, but all in all is mainly good for the fact that it brings the original game onto a more lively format. The game to this day remains a classic game in the Sonic series.
