Image for Sony Cam is the best cam..!!!

I bought this camera a month ago at the nearby Sony outlet, I won't say all coz of its brand name I bought this but also coz it was the best of all the cameras available at this price tag. I was badly in need of a high resolution photo capturing device for a very important family event, I didn't have enough time for a detailed analysis, but then what I wanted was that the cam should have 10 mp or more, my cute little sister had ordered me(...lol) to get a pink one. Though the official website had only two colours shown (black n silver) what I found at the showroom was tat, 4 different colours (red, pink, silver, black) were available. I have very well known of its brand coz I already had a few of Sony gadgets all over my place and have well suited for my lifestyle. I had reservations at first but checking the specs versus the price, but then this cam Sony Cybershot DSC S980 perfectly fitted into my budget, I decided to go for it without any further speculations.Camera Features and Specs:

Maximum resolution is 4, 000 x 3, 000 pixels (approx 12.1) was more than enough for me... So problem with the image depth as you could well retain the image quality even if you crop it. It has a 4x optical zoom, which allows you to snap it up from a considerable distance. It has an Auto Focus feature but also has the Steady Shot Optical Image Stabiliz(er)ing feature which erases all your focusing difficulties. It has 2.7 (6.9 cm) LCD (230K pixels) display which is comparatively very good with other cameras at this range.

Other notable features include Audio/Video capturing capability in MPEG-4 format and a maximum resolution of 320 x 240, 30fps. It has a built-in speaker for video preview. The onboard memory sucks with 12MB but a 2GB SD card is provided with the cam, though you can upgrade up to 4GB. Face-detection, Red-eye removal, Panorama Stitching are all present in this camera. Other features include PictBridge, direct AV output. It has an excellent flash light up to a range of 1.5 m. It has a lightning speed response time with a Start-up in approximately 3 sec; it is highly sensitive. Battery life is 310 shots (155 min approx.). Dimensions (W x H x D) is 93.1 x 55.7 x 23.8mm and weighs approximately 157g with the battery.

It isn't too costly affair, it is the best available at this price range I reckon. Costs around $207(INR 9900).

What's in the box:

 Lithium ION Battery NP-BK1

 Battery Charger

 Dedicated AV Cable

 Dedicated USB Cable

 Power Cord

 Wrist Strap

 Sony Bundle

 User Manual

 Warranty Card

What I like:

I like the slim stylish look of this camera in a smooth finished metal chassis. It has a Photo Mode which includes Auto/ Easy Shooting/Program Auto/Scene Selection. Scene Selection is one which I would like to tell you about. Each of the Scene Selection Mode has pre-set settings that allow you to select the optimal configurations for your image with just a touch of your finger. So no matter what the shooting condition, just switch to the most suitable mode and start snapping. You can select scene mode like Twilight / Twilight Portrait / Landscape / Soft Snap / Snow / Beach / High Sensitivity. It has a user friendly menu system and buttons. Face Detection Technology automatically adjusts the focus, exposure, white balance and even flash control on multiple faces in the single shot which I feel is more than handy. And the battery life is very good and it charges fast too..

What I dislike:

No carrying case included in the package. X-(, video capturing is at very low resolution.

This camera is ideal to use any environment... whether indoor or outdoor. With its easy to use features and menus, I can recommend Sony cybershot DSC S980 for non-professional everyday camera needs. A very good camera at a very reasonable price.
