I picked this bad boy up at Wal-mart on Black Friday of 2007. My wife and I needed a new camera after our Fuji Finepix began acting up, needless to say we're extremely pleased. It has a much larger screen than our old one and a few more features, too. It is 7.2 megapixels - which is about 4 megapixels more than anyone, but a professional needs, in my opinion - with 3x optical lens. It uses memory pro duo, but has about 24MB internal memory.
The screen is roughly two inches (compared to the 2.5 of the DSC-S750 model) and it much easier to see in brightly lit rooms. Another thing we loved about the screen was the icons and menu tabs are smaller, but not too small that you're unable to read them. This gives a better view of the picture itself or the scene you're about to take a picture of.
The shutter speed (which I'm not sure of without looking through the manual) seems pretty quick, which is a must for taking pictures of kids. With our old camera it seemed to take eternity, the 650 seems like a few seconds. My wife and I also like the slender shape of it. A lot easier to carry this around in a purse or pocket instead of a specially designed case.
One thing we don't like, but this is something we hated about the Fuji as well, is the memory sticks. This takes Pro Duo which is expensive compared to, say, SD. Nearly everything else we own takes SD, but our old camera was XD and now this one takes Pro Duo, it just seems unnecessary.
Overall, we really like this camera and for the cost is was a great deal. We get far better shots and the shots we want, instead of blurs and "just missed". If you're looking for a cheap, good quality camera I don't think you can do much better.
