I was not going to purchase a Sony Playstation 3 when they first hit the market. I found the price to be ridiculous, and the need for such a high ticket item was not a priority.

However when I purchased my Samsung HDTV, I was offered a deal I couldn;t refuse. A Sony PS3 40GB console for $100 off the original price.

I was going to skip on the offer, but the saavy salesman basically told me that I would totally love the console just for the blu-ray, if I was not interested in gaming.

I am interested in gaming, and the thought of having a more exclusive Blu-ray player was a total turn on. So I went ahead and made the purchase.

Hooking the Sony PS3 40GB up was a cinch. Lucky for me, I bought an HDMI cable to hook the PS3 up to my HDTV's available HDMI port.

The graphics were stunning!!! Even the start up interactive menu looked glorious.

The console comes with only one SIXAXIS remote, however this remote charges when plugged into the console, and can be used to play wireless when you unplugg it from the chord. I loved the controller, and the fact that like the Wii it is sensitive to motion.

Internet:

The PS3 40GB comes with wireless internet access, so it you already have a home network up and running, hooking up the PS3 to the internet is a frigging breeze.

Once hooked up you now have access to downloading game content, game downloads, wallpaper, movies, and other forms of media.

The only downside though is that browsing te net using the controller can be a bit bothersome. You can, if you want purchase a wireless keyboard for the console.

Menu:

From the main menu you can view uploaded pictures, listen to music, play games, or watch movies.

Blu-Ray:

I swear to God, if you are not going to play games on the PS3 it is worth buying it just for blu-ray discs. The blu-ray player can also play normal DVD's, and the picture is flawless. Pop in a blu-ray though, and you will be seeing picture quality, and details you have never seen before.

The one issue I have with the console thus far though is the fact that their gaming selection is small, and still only offers a small selection of games. Games for girls especially are difficult, if not impossible to come by.

Overall:

The PS3 40GB is by far the best console I have ever used. I was once hooked to my Wii, but the doors that the PS3 have opened are simply stunning. From flawless gaming, to beautiful blu-ray viewing, it was well worth the money.
