Spell Time is a cute little educational toy that will help to reinforce spelling skills in young children. It's cute because it comes in a little briefcase so you little one can pretend to go to work like mom or dad. The main idea behind Spell Time is that with the use of pictures, specially perforated cards and alphabet tiles that only fit when the letter is correct, your child aged 5+ will learn to spell.
Spell Time comes with 15 cards. There are 6 pictures on each card. Beside each picture there are color-coded, perforated rectangles that correspond to the 78 alphabet tiles included with the toy. The alphabet tiles are different colors: letters A-F are RED, G-L are BLUE, M-Q are YELLOW, R-V are GREEN and W-Z are ORANGE. There are pegs on the back of each colored alphabet tile that corresponds to the perforations found next the pictures on the cards. storage for the colored alphabet tiles is found on the right-side of the briefcase.
A card is chosen and laid on the left-side of the opended briefcase. Your child then views the picture and tries to spell the object by choosing letters from the identified by the colored rectangles next to the picture.
My kids enjoyed the game. I would have spelling races to see who spell all of the pictures on their card the fastest. The onlu down-side to this game is that one your child masters all 15 cards the toy is pretty much done as there are no refills to buy. But, I guess you could make your own cards using bristol board and a small hole puncher - hmmmmm great idea!
