Spring Awakening is a musical currently playing on Broadway at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre in New York City. It is a rock type musical that is about a bunch of teenagers in Germany in the ninteenth century who are trying to find themselves and learn about love.
I thought that the story in Spring Awakening was kind of strange. It was odd seeing people in old fashioned type clothes singing rock music with hand held microphones. So it wasn't exaclty my type of show, but I did find the music to be quite good. The cast of young actors also did a good job and they have amazing voices.
Tickets for Spring Awakening are $31-111. I purchased a ticket for $31, which was actually located on the stage of the theatre. It was quite a unique experience sitting there. You really are a part of the action in the show. The actors in the show also have seats among the audience stage seats, so there were times when they were sitting right next to me. You do get only a side view of the performance on stage, since it is being performed to the people in the regular audience seats. But it was still a fun experience and I would recommend sitting there, not only because it is inexpensive, but because it is not something you can normally do at a Broadway show.
Teenagers may appreciate Spring Awakening more than I did. But I did like the music quite a bit, even if the show itself was a bit weird for me.
