These three-section trays are perfect for making up homemade microwave dinners. Of course the company has changed the design.

Read my pet peeves. (See profile). Number one on the list is: “I just find a product that works for me, and then company discontinues it! “ Well this isn’t discontinued, but it has changed so much that I don’t like the new version. But... some form of it is still available.

The ones I have are RECTANGULAR three-compartment plastic trays with lids. They go in the freezer, microwave, and dishwasher. I bought six of them many years back. At the time, at $3 each that was a really significant expense for us, but I’m sure they have paid for themselves many times over.

We just loaded them up with healthy future meals for hubby with the remains of our big dinner. The large section easily held 4 ounces of turkey and a dollop of stuffing. The small sections we filled with 3 ounces of potato, and 3 ounces of squash. We could have put slightly more in each area because the lids (on these) are raised, so it wouldn’t have been a problem. These could seal better but they don’t usually last long enough to get freezer burned (see new version).

The actual size of these is 5.5 x 8 x 2 inches.

Now to what you could actually buy at the present time. Sterilite still makes this product, but now it is ROUND. I hate round containers. They take up too much space. You can stack them, but they don’t snuggle up side by side so you lose all that precious space in the freezer. The new ones have a different kind of lid too. It says it has a tight seal (looks tupperware style), with a thumbprint tab for easier opening. The new ones probably seal better than mine, so that could be good. I guess the good news is that they haven’t gone up in price all that much. They are $3.29 each at Housewares & Beyond.

I did find one rectangular option, designed for babies, and with more bells and whistles. It has removable section cups with separate lids and a spoon. It is Sassy Baby Mealtime on the Go and sells for $6.99

I’m wishing I had another 6 of these in the style I like. Maybe I’ll keep hunting the auction sites.
