SpywareBlaster is an important part of my anti-spyware arsenal. SpywareBlaster isn't a spyware scanner. It adds blocks to Internet Explorer and Mozilla based browsers to prevent the installation of spyware on the system. It does this by using the browser's existing blocking capabilities. For Firefox and Seamonkey, it only blocks unwanted tracking or adware cookies as spyware is not easliy installed through the Mozilla browsers. For Internet Explorer, where SpywareBlaster is more beneficial, it blocks unwanted cookies and blocks ActiveX scripts which are largely responsible for the installation of most spyware. You can also set it to block flash in IE and prevent the changing of the homepage. SpywareBlaster will also allow you to create a system snapshot which will save your computer's settings. If spyware should change any settings on your computer, it is then easy to restore them.
Although I no longer use Internet Explorer, back when I did, after installing SpywareBlaster, the amount of spyware getting installed on my computer dropped dramatically. As such, if you use IE, I highly suggest this software. If you use Firefox or Seamonkey, SpywareBlaster is still helpful as it helps in protecting your online privacy by blocking tracking cookies.
