Lately, just for a change of pace, I have been searching for some authors whose books I have not read before. I came upon a book called Sucks To Be Me: The All-True Confessions of Mina Hamilton, Teen Vampire (maybe). Sucks To Be Me is written by a new novelist by the name of Kimberly Pauley.

This is an amusing story of a young teenager, Mina, who has known that her parents were vampires all of her life. What she did not know was that she was going to be expected to decide if she wants to follow in her parents' footsteps and be a vampire too at such a young age. Mina is going through all the usual troubles that most teenagers go through but they are nothing compared to what she is facing now.

When I got this book I knew what to expect in that it is written through the eyes of a teenager and is generally considered something teenagers would read. I work with children so I checked this book out because I like to keep up with current books for young people and it looked interesting. Some critics have said the author, Kimberly Pauley, does not have great writing skills. Sometimes the writings of new authors are not the best but usually they become better as they write more. However, I tend to think a lot of her writing style is done in accordance with how a teenager would tell the story.

Overall, I think young people will like this book but some adults will not get it. I for the most part liked it. I think Ms. Pauley will become a better writer as time goes on.

In my opinion, this book is suited for eighth grade to 10th grade students.
