One of the cheapest ways to upgrade the shower experience is to purchase a pouf mesh sponge. I chose the one from eBubbles on amazon.com because this one has a pretty solid construction. The poufs that are sold for $1 do work just as well, but the mesh falls apart more quickly so that the pouf looks less like a ball and more like a mad hairdo, which means that it must be replaced more often.
The big thing for me about the pouf is that the mesh of the sponge exfoliates the skin of my body as I wash. I say body as this absolutely cannot be used on the face as it is much too harsh. What this exfoliation does is to remove the dead layer of surface skin cells that cause the skin to be rough. It also helps to loosen up and remove any pore clogging debris, leaving me with soft, smooth skin.
The pouf also saves me money! It does this because it takes a tiny bit of shower gel and turns that little bit into a sudsy cleaning machine! I have sensitive, dry skin so I use high quality shower gels by Garden Bontanika, which are more expensive than what I could get at the local department or drug store. By using my shower gels with a pouf I can really stretch out the bottle, making it last a big 4 times longer (at least!) than if I used a traditional washcloth or my hand.
Adding a pouf to my shower has definitely upgraded my shower experience.
