Trauma Center: Under Knife is somewhat of a surgery simulation game for the Nintendo DS. This game takes full advantage of the stylus and touch screen in ways no other system can. You use the stylus to simulate a whole variety of things: from incisions to grabbing stuff with your tongs to shooting lasers at evil body-infesting worms. Okay, maybe the last one there is not so normal. That's the problem with the game, I'm afraid. It starts out relatively normal. You're a new doctor and are given several realistic tasks. Take shards of glass out of someone's arm for instance. Then the game takes a sudden turn for the weird and you're suddenly fighting some lab experiements run amok in someone's body. I'm sorry, but I wanted a surgery simulator, and not some weird science fiction surgery game. The graphics are so-so. The bodies you operate on are all full 3D white most of the cutscenes are with static backgrounds and cardboard cutouts for characters. Near the end, fighting the worms becomes almost impossible and you might find yourself pulling your hairs out. The good news is that you can do a surgery as many times as you want until you pass it. So if this sounds like fun, get it.
