I have searched for years for a quality headboard and footboard for my bare naked double bed, but the furniture stores in my area just don't carry full sized headboards and footboards anymore. I can find twin size, queen size, king size, and even imperial size, but it has been next to impossible to find a quality full size headboard let alone a matching footboard for my full size bed. Well, darned if I didn't get lucky yesterday and spot a pebble green Sycamore full sized headboard and footboard at a yard sale for just $30. I snapped that treasure up so fast it made the woman wonder if she had priced it high enough. Nowhere near high enough, and I didn't dicker the asking price with her to give her any opportunity to think about it.

The "Sycamore" collection of metal headboards was designed by the Fashion Bed Group. It's still currently still available in twin, full or queen size, and in a "Hammered Copper" or "White Matte" finish from www.thefurniture.com/store/FBG-B4102.htm for $229 plus $100 shipping and handling for the full-sized model. And I haven't been able to find anyplace where the "Pebble Green" finish is still available for a Sycamore bedframe at any price. This store doesn't state clearly if that price is for the headboard only or for the entire bedframe, so I would definitely call first before ordering because many other stores are selling "headboard only" at that price. A king-sized model of the Sycamore is available in "Hammered Copper" or "White Matte" for $379 plus shipping from www.namebrandbeds.com/b4102 .

To describe it: Although it looks like a wrought-iron bedframe in its traditional design, it's actually made from steel tubing and painted with a powder epoxy finish. It was so lightweight to load into my car that I believe the headboard and footboard weighed less than 10 pounds each; the solid metal siderails were actually heavier. The footboard and headboard are exactly the same in their curved leaf design and finials, and leg extensions are included to raise the height from 34" to 49" high for the headboard. Plastic feet that are inserted into the legs protect hardwood floors from getting scratched or carpets from getting shredded by the metal legs. The full sized bedframe includes the two siderails, but the boxsprings and mattress are not included. And it comes with a 10 year limited warranty against manufacturer defects.

I love the open, airy feeling of the Sycamore headboard because it doesn't block the breeze from my bedroom windows. It gives me a great decorative style to work with without making me feel claustrophobic in what is already a small master bedroom. And it fits my personality, so I know this will be a cherished bedframe for a long time to come.
