We have a coffee table in our family room which my son liked to cruise around as a baby. Often when he was cruising, he would lose his footing and smack his head on the table. He, of course, would cry and get a bruise. We didn't want to put the table away but needed to do something to help protect his head. I went to Babies R Us to see what they carried. While there I found the Safety 1st Small Table Edge Bumper.

The Safety 1st Small Table Edge Bumper is a gray bumper pad that fits around most tables. The small size fits tables 90" -140". It will fit any shape table within that size. They also offer a larger size that fits tables 141"-192". The bumper is cushioned and surrounds the entire table. It comes with four corner pads which help soften the edges on rectangle or square tables. If you have a circular table, you simply don't use the corner cushions. It is made with a vinyl fabic that is easy to wipe clean.

Our coffee table is approximately 135" and the bumper fit it perfectly. If our table was closer to the 90", I wonder how good of a fit it would offer. Our table is rectangular and we did use the corner pads for extra protection. The bumper has a tight fit and our son was never able to pull it off. In fact, he often pulled on the bumper to help pull himself to standing. The bumper is soft and it really helped protect his head and chin from bumps and bruises. Another bonus to the bumper is that it prevents things from rolling off the table.

The bumper held up wonderfully and we used it for close to a year. It did start to wear a bit at the edges but nothing that hindered its use. We recently took out the bumper again when our youngest son started cruising around the table.

I highly recommend this table bumper to help prevent bumps and bruises on little heads. My only complaint about this product is the cost. It is $27.99 which I think is a bit high for what it is. However, when it comes to safety, I am willing to pay.
