My daughter got this Veterinary Kit for her 2nd birthday. She absolutely loves it. The Animal Hospital comes with 3 small stuffed animals, a dog, cat, and a parrot. There are 6 "cages" that lock. Also included are: stethoscope, plastic tweezers, a syringe, flashlight, exam mirror, thermometer, vitamins and "boo boo cream" and of course, keys for the cage doors. The keys are color coded to the doors. At first I thought this might have been a little too advanced for her, but she very quickly figured out to match the color keys to the appropriate color door.
She also enjoys putting some of her other small stuffed animals into the cages. Kids meal toys from fast food restaurants are a perfect size for the little cubby holes. While there are a lot of pieces that can potentially get lost (the boo boo cream ends up under the couch a lot) this is a great educational toy. As stated, she already learned to match the colors, how to operate the keys in the lock, and I think most importantly, she is learning to be caring and compassionate to animals. Well, the poor kitty ends up getting far more vaccines than the other animals, but all in all, she tries to take care of her stuffed animals. She listens for their heartbeats, gives them vitamins, and "applies" boo boo cream. It is very sweet to see her tending to them.
This toy is graded for ages 2+.
