I must admit, this is a great educational tool for children, teenagers and adults. I use it myself and I think it is a very helpful item. It is the Seiko Talking Dictionary and Thesaurus, purchased at RadioShack for $99.99. There are over 220, 000 definitions in this little gadget (based on the American Heritage dictionary), and I especially like that it pronounces the words for those who are not sure of the pronunciation. This pocket-sized item has many features besides definitions, including synonyms, spell checker, cross-referencing, a word test to build language skills, and math and science features, plus games. It operates on two AA batteries and is also DC 9v capable, but the adapter is not included. The dictionary comes with headphones and a soft pouch case that I use to keep it in. I use my Talking Dictionary a lot, and yes, this is an educational tool for me. As long as you can read, you can make use of this item, and it would be especially beneficial for those who want to brush up on word definitions.
