We were browsing around Toys R Us again the other day when I thought of getting my baby some plastic replica of fruits and vegetables so that I can teach her the names of the most common things that she would see on the table.

I saw a pack of fruits and another of vegetables called Play Food Fun by Sugar and Spire. They have a big pack of fruits that contain 20 pieces, but some of the items are redundant. This big pack costs $2.40. It is the same with the vegetables.

But then looking deeper into the bin, I saw that there were smaller packs that contain only 10 pieces per pack.

For the fruit pack, it contains:

2 bananas

1 pear

1 green apple

1 red apple

1 bunch of grapes

2 strawberries

1 orange

1 lemon

For the vegetable pack

1 broccoli

2 asparagus stalks

2 carrots

1 green bell pepper

1 red bell pepper

1 eggplant

1 tomato

1 corn

All the items that are in the big pack are also in the smaller pack, except that most have only 1 unit per kind. But it is okay, I only need one of each to teach my baby.

This toy is not for 0-3 years old, but it is okay, I don't leave my baby unattended with these toys anyway. I just wanted to show her how these fruits look like.

The only downside is, some of the things are not very clear. Like the pear and the green apple. The colors are exactly the same and there is just a slight difference in the shape. As for the Red apple and bell pepper, they have similarities, too. The orange is also very small. In the big pack, the orange is about the size of a real Sunkist orange.

But anyway, I have already started teaching my child about banana and orange. So far, she has followed me in saying "na-na". She is only 10 months old and I would like to increase her vocabulary by teaching her basic words that we always use.

This is already worth it.
