I bought this bookshelf on a whim. We were in need of some extra storage by my husband's desk for his computer books and the boxes of spare parts he keeps on hand. (Being a computer guy, he's always fixing something for someone!) I saw this while I was out and gave into the $15 sale price and bought it.

Right from the start, I wasn't impressed. Although I knew I wasn't buying a top of the line product--it is made out of laminate fiberboard, afterall--I wasn't prepared for just how low quality it was. While I was putting this unit togther, I found that several of the spots for screws had not been pre-drilled, which is annoying at best. Because of this, one of the screws went in crooked and broke a piece of the shelf before a single thing had been set on it!

To its credit, once it was put together, it has held up fairly well. I was half expecting the shelves to buckle under the weight of heavier books, but so far so good.

So you can see that I have mixed feeling about this bookshelf. I guess for the $15 I paid, it is pretty good, but I wouldn't pay full price for another one. I had originally intended this to be a temporary solution to our office storage needs, and in that respect, it is doing its job. However, if you are looking for a quality piece of furniture, you'll have to look elsewhere. Go with real wood, or something more solid. This one is just not built to last.
