The 13th Tale
Reviewing: Diane Setterfield Washington Square Press | Rating:
Captivating story that just pulls you in! It is about an author Vida Winter and her "story". She was a world famous author and yet no one really knew her. Every time she was asked about her past, she gave a different account of her life. As she is nearing the end of her life, she seeks out a woman, Margaret a loner who lives for her books. Margaret also has a secret, which comes to light as she records Vida's life. This is a story about twins and lies and story telling. The truth alludes to the end.
Usually when trying to "figure" out a book, I can get a feel for it. Not this one. Diane Setterfield wrote a wonderful haunting novel that keeps you guessing at every turn. You get hooked in and STAY hooked in. It's hard to believe that this is Diane Setterfield's first novel!
