The Thumb features continue in the third installment of the Thumb franchise, entitled The Blair Thumb. Parodying The Blair Witch Project, this filmette is a hilarious take on the horror film.
The Blair Thumb is a well-known urban legend. Three student filmmakers: Stressy, Vic, and Jish, head off into the woods to create their documentary about said legend, only to encounter horror after hilarious horror.
Seriously, how many movies feature people getting attacked by land sharks in the middle of the forest? Just as in Witch Project, you never know what to expect, especially since this is a parody. Where'd the sun go? Why is the rain so clumpy? Why is Vic screaming like a girl? You'll find yourself busting a gut as the characters try to make sense of every weird thing that befalls them and freak out as a result.
Special features are a step up from the previous release. We get 2 commentaries, both sane and insane. Needless to say, the insane commentary isn't much more than mindless blathering, but amusing nontheless. A "behind the scenes" look shows us the making of the movie...if it were made by actual thumbs. Plus, we have the usual storyboards and coming attraction trailers.
All in all, The Blair Thumb is a cheap movie, but a scream. In more ways than one.
