Final Fantasy IX, for the Sony Playstation console, is one of my most memorable gaming experiences, and that's for good reason.
When this game came out in early 2000, it had high hopes for becoming the next huge hit, much like the previous installments in the franchise. Although it disappointed many newer fans, older fans of the series managed to find many good things about the game.
The graphics, for a PS1 game, are very, very solid. The 3D environments are very colorful and nice to look at, but fail in comparison to today's next-gen graphics. The music is beautiful, and shows of a score by the almost-perfect Nobuo Uematsu.
The game itself brings fans back into an age of castles, and well, fantasy. Many aspects are borrowed from older games in the series and overall, the game, which spanned over 40 hours, became possibly my favorite game of all time.
I highly recommend Final Fantasy IX to all FF fans, all RPG fans, and ANYONE who is looking for an amazing story.
