The Drums are a indie pop band which hail from New York and are apparently one of the most talked about bands of 2010. The band released their Summertime EP in Fall of 2009 and have quickly gained a great deal of positive attention from various medias.
Their sound is reminiscent of the 80's Factory Records bands such as New Order and Joy Division with beautiful synth bass and leads and dreamy guitar sounds which strongly reminds us of The Smiths.
From the post-punk sound of 'I wanna go Surfing' to the 50's sweet bebop sound of 'Down by the water, The Drums have a mysterious element which any music listener can relate to. Thier music takes us on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, which is prevlaent in the bittersweet lyrics of 'Saddest Summer'.
The Drums encorporate themes of innocence and love through some of the most joyous and upbeat songs that I have heard this year. Look out for this band, as I'm almost certain you'll be hearing them on an airwave near you!
